Welcome back to our scenic Illawarra drive series! If you haven’t watched Part One, where we journeyed from Kiama’s famous Blowhole π to the Rock Swimming Pool π with zero interventions, I’d highly recommend starting there. This video is Part Two of the adventure — and it takes us even deeper into the beauty of New South Wales, testing Tesla Full Self-Driving Supervised (Down Under Edition) through vineyards, hills, town centres, and dense Sunday traffic. We began in a Kiama parking lot π
Ώ️, where FSD had to immediately contend with pedestrians, parked cars, and local traffic. The exit from Kiama toward the highway was the first real test, and while the system got most of it right, there was a false move at the highway exit π§ where the car drifted onto the shoulder instead of choosing the correct lane. Not flawless, but part of the learning journey. From there, we set course for Berry π, a charming town known for its Sunday bustle and famous treat factory. ⸻ π Berry Supercharger at Silos Estate One of the true highlights of this leg was visiting one of the original Tesla Superchargers in New South Wales, located at Silos Estate Winery ππ·. This spot is special for several reasons: • π It sits on a reclaimed hill, built on a foundation of wine bottles and wine cogs, making it one of the most unique charging locations in the country. • π£️ The road to the supercharger isn’t smooth — it’s an uphill track inside the winery grounds. Watching FSD carefully navigate the less-than-perfect uphill approach was genuinely impressive. • ⚡ Once there, the car reached the stalls confidently, though it did have one semi-miss: it wouldn’t back up properly into the supercharger bay. Not a failure, but not perfect either. ⸻ π️ Exploring Berry Town Next, we rolled into Berry town centre, and this is where FSD Supervised had to shine. The streets were full of Sunday morning pedestrians πΆ, cyclists π΄, and dense car traffic π. Navigating through these tight, unpredictable conditions is the hardest kind of driving — yet the car adapted smoothly, handling crosswalks, intersections, and local quirks with logic that felt reassuring. We capped off the Berry visit at the treat factory π¬, a local favourite, before wrapping up this leg of the drive. ⸻ ✅ The Wins • Smooth suburban navigation leaving Kiama • Brilliant uphill climb to the Berry Supercharger at Silos Estate • Confident handling of pedestrian-heavy Berry town centre • Logical lane discipline in traffic • Scenic, stress-free flow through Illawarra’s countryside ⚠️ The Misses • π§ Highway exit false move leaving Kiama (drifted into the shoulder) • π
Ώ️ Semi-miss at Silos Supercharger — hesitation in backing up into the stall ⸻ π― Why This Drive Matters This drive shows both the beauty of the Illawarra region of New South Wales πΏ and the evolving intelligence of Tesla’s FSD Supervised. It’s not just about autonomy — it’s about seeing how technology adapts to real-world Aussie driving conditions, from heritage towns to modern superchargers. ⸻ π Coming Up in Part Three Don’t miss Part Three, which will be the crown jewel of the Illawarra series. We’ll begin at the Bald Hill lookout π, descend through the charming town of Stanwell Park π️, and then roll onto the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge π — one of the most spectacular coastal drives in Australia. From cliffs to ocean views, this next leg will truly show the fusion of breathtaking scenery and autonomous driving. ⚡ Tesla FSD Navigates Through Scenic Illawarra New South Wales Routes | Part Two — from Kiama to Berry’s iconic Supercharger and town centre, with highlights, misses, and everything in between. ⸻ #Tesla #FSD #TeslaAustralia #Illawarra #Berry #SilosEstate #BerrySupercharger #Kiama #TreatFactory #SeaCliffBridge #StanwellPark #BaldHill #FSDSupervised #TeslaFSD #Model3Highland #ScenicDrive #TeslaDownUnder 0:00 - Introduction 2:01 - Exit from Kiama Rock Pool Parking π
