This morning, many Australian Tesla owners with Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles received yet another carefully worded update about Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The email celebrated the rollout of FSD (Supervised) v13 in Australia and New Zealand — but only for the latest Hardware 4 (HW4) cars. For HW3 owners, whose early-adopter purchases helped fuel Tesla’s growth here, the message was familiar: We haven’t forgotten you — please continue to wait. During Tesla’s recent earnings call, CFO Vaibhav Taneja reiterated: “We’ve not completely given up on Hardware 3… These customers are very important. They were the early adopters.” VP of Autopilot and AI Software, Ashok Elluswamy, mentioned that Tesla is planning a “v14 Lite” for HW3 “probably expected in Q2 next year.” However, that timing reference was made in a U.S. context. It has not been confirmed for Australia, where we are still several steps behind in the rollout sequence. So at this stage, Australian HW3 owners have no clear timeline at all. ⏳ ⸻ The Growing Gap In the United States, HW3 vehicles are already running FSD v12, with the new end-to-end neural network driving system. It’s not perfect — but it is a major leap in capability.
