This morning, many Australian Tesla owners with Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles received yet another carefully worded update about Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The email celebrated the rollout of FSD (Supervised) v13 in Australia and New Zealand — but only for the latest Hardware 4 (HW4) cars. For HW3 owners, whose early-adopter purchases helped fuel Tesla’s growth here, the message was familiar: We haven’t forgotten you — please continue to wait. During Tesla’s recent earnings call, CFO Vaibhav Taneja reiterated: “We’ve not completely given up on Hardware 3… These customers are very important. They were the early adopters.” VP of Autopilot and AI Software, Ashok Elluswamy, mentioned that Tesla is planning a “v14 Lite” for HW3 “probably expected in Q2 next year.” However, that timing reference was made in a U.S. context. It has not been confirmed for Australia, where we are still several steps behind in the rollout sequence. So at this stage, Australian HW3 owners have no clear timeline at all. ⏳ ⸻ The Growing Gap In the United States, HW3 vehicles are already running FSD v12, with the new end-to-end neural network driving system. It’s not perfect — but it is a major leap in capability. Meanwhile in Australia, HW3 owners do not have v12, and remain on the older legacy Autopilot stack — making the gap both technological and experiential. And while that difference would be easier to accept with clarity, the communication around when (or even if) Australia will receive parity has been minimal to nonexistent. Tesla AUNZ has been largely silent — no timelines, no owner guidance, no acknowledgement of the frustration. Many of us paid $10,100 for the Full Self-Driving package since 2018. A reasonable estimate suggests around 10,000 Australians are in the same position — supportive, patient, but increasingly disheartened. 🤐 #TeslaFSD #FullSelfDriving #TeslaAustralia #HW3 #HW4 #TeslaCommunity #FSDAustralia #teslaowners
